Under the name Nordic Transport Center, the Port of Aalborg Ltd. makes up the regional goods junction and the starting point for competitive transport chains in partnership with the transport industry’s players on creating holistic logistics solutions. Service is our watchword, both in the form of physical services and in the form of openness and willingness to cooperate.
The Port of Aalborg undertakes – in addition to the transport and handling of goods – tasks such as waste treatment, cleaning, repair of dry boxes and reefer containers as well as administrative tasks and telephone answering services. As part of the standard services offered to companies, joint communication solutions have been established within the harbour area: solutions for communication by landline telephone, mobile phone and data transmission.
Canteen facilities have also been established for all of the harbour’s users.
Large crane capacity with flexibility
With a large number of different types of crane available for hire, the Port of Aalborg can deal with all types of goods. There is great flexibility; the majority of cranes can operate with both hook and grab, and in addition to the cranes there are discharge pipes and suction systems.
The East Harbour is equipped with a modern container gantry crane with a lifting capacity of 42 tonnes under the container yoke and maximum reach over the edge of the quay of 26 m. In the same area two mobile cranes are stationed with capacities of up to 36 tonnes when using a hook and 24 tonnes with a grab bucket, as well as a mobile crane with a hook capacity of some 45 tonnes. The three cranes are used for handling containers and general cargo, as well as with grabs of up to 4 cubic metres for the loading and unloading of bulk goods..jpg)
In 2006 the North Harbour received a hydraulic mobile crane, which with a 2.5-tonne capacity in its grab bucket is primarily used for bulk goods, although it is also able to lift up to 10 tonnes in its hook.
The Central Harbour’s general cargo areas are served by luffing cranes with capacities of 8-10 tonnes and which can be used with both hooks and grab buckets. On the same stretch of quay a hydraulic mobile crane operates with a capacity of up to 8 tonnes in its hook and 2 tonnes in a grab bucket or timber grab.
